Description:
Bar code scanning – surely it must be
simple since so many companies worldwide have been doing it for so long,
right? Well, it’s not so cut
and dried if you are the individual responsible for selecting specific
scanners for specific tasks. Many
options are available in the marketplace; laser “gun” type scanners,
contact wands, linear imagers, 2-D imagers, fixed-mount scanners - all in
both wired and wireless configurations.
While this session will not “tell” the
attendee what scanner type to select (or which manufacturer to choose), nor
will it specify dollar expenditures for the various options, it will provide
ideas on the proper match of scanner technology to the application(s) at
hand.
Anyone with purchasing responsibility or
recommendation authority will benefit from this session.
Without recommending any
manufacturer, the session syllabus includes a website listing, with
specific URLs, of representative scanner manufacturers.
The session is designed to enable the
attendee to be a better-informed customer when the time comes to make a
scanner selection.
Session TB103 is the fourth of four related
sessions which include (in sequence) TB101 – Bar Code Symbologies; TB102
– Printing; TB203 – Verification; and TB103 – Scanning.
